Samuel Paul Gustafson

Samuel Paul Gustafson

April 9th, 2017 – October 14, 2017

Saumel Paul Gustafson, age 6 months and 5 days, died in his mother’s arms at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha Nebraska on October 14th, 2017. After struggling with a congenital heart disease, he passed gently into the arms of Jesus.

Samuel was born on April 9th, 2017 to Eric and Amber Gustafson in Omaha Nebraska. He was the younger twin to brother Frederic Daniel. The boys were an answer to a long-awaited prayer after years of infertility and loss.

During Sam’s brief visit here on earth, he enjoyed being read his favorite book “Giraffes Can’t Dance” or playing with his OBall toy. He also enjoyed being swaddled, listening to his rattles, and holding hands with his parents and grandparents.

Sam was loved by all who met him—especially the doctors, nurses and staff at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, where he spent the majority of his life. By the grace of God, he fought through many medical battles—including two septic blood infections, a run on ECMO, and several open-heart surgeries. His fighting spirit and “Sammy smiles” are part of his legacy.

Thinking of u at this time of sorrow. If u have never read “Heaven is for real”, it would be a very good read. The little boy is from Nebraska and has grown up. He is now wrestling in high school He is about Tyson’s age. He describes heaven and some of his family he met. An awesome book. May Godbe with you in the coming days.

I know what a blessing it was for you to bring two beautiful babies into this world. You have been through a trying journey over the past 6 months and I truly had hopes for little Sam. My heart is heavy for your loss of such a sweet little angel … “Though words, however gentle cannot take your loss away. Still, we hope our prayers comfort you today.” With much love from Dave and me.

There are no words that are adequate. May there be comfort in knowing others are thinking of and praying for you all, in his twin brother and in knowing you will see Samuel again. — Jeff
