SCHRIBER, Suzanne T.

Suzanne T. Schriber April 4, 1918 – May 24, 2015 On May 24, 2015 “Suzy” passed away peacefully, of natural causes, comforted by her family at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion, NE. She was 97 years old. Suzanne was born in Great Neck, Long Island, NY on April 4, 1918. She was the daughter of William A. Tobler and Marguerite K. Tobler, and the sister of Alice “Lally” Tobler Dempsey. Suzanne grew up in New Haven, CT, attended The Madeira School and graduated from Vassar College. She married Rufus Kellogg Schriber, Jr. in 1940. For five years the couple lived in Arequipa, Peru, where their first two children were born. They then moved to Oshkosh, WI where her husband joined the family business and their last two children were born. They lived in Oshkosh and Neenah-Menasha, WI until 2007 when Suzanne moved to Omaha, NE to be closer to her family. Suzanne was lively, intelligent, optimistic and tenacious. She spoke four languages other than English: Spanish, French, Swiss-German and “sailor”. Throughout her life she was involved with many community organizations. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, gardening, cooking and animals—she rescued two dogs from the icy waters of Lake Winnebago and adopted others from area animal shelters. An avid entertainer, she loved a good party, and she especially loved her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister; and beloved family members, Nicholas Castellanos and Lizzie Bogue. She is survived by her children: Suzanne (Douglas) Swanson of Houston, TX, Rufus (Kathy) Schriber of Williamsburg, VA, Leslie (Steve) Bogue of Omaha, NE, William T. Schriber of Charleston, SC; and by a wonderful array of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. SERVICES and burial will be held in Oshkosh, WI at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
