Sean Kevin Dervin

Sean Kevin Dervin

March 8, 1979- November 15, 2023

Sean Kevin Dervin died unexpectedly in Omaha, NE, on November 15, 2023, at the age of 44. Sean is survived by his parents, Dennis and Rita Dervin of Omaha, NE; siblings: Brian (Keri), Pat (Kathy), Chris (Renee), and Kathy (Dan); nieces, Bailey, Sarah, Maddy, Megan, and Delaney; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sean was preceded in death by his brother, Joe.

Sean was born March 8, 1979, in Omaha, NE, to Dennis and Rita. He graduated from Creighton Preparatory High School in 1997 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in 1998. Sean served his country as a Marine Corps Reservist until he fell ill in December of 1999, resulting in an anoxic brain injury and stroke. That didn’t stop Sean, a Red Sox fan, from traveling the country to catch his favorite baseball team, or from enjoying a number of other hobbies. Sean was also an avid Husker Football fan, Premier League soccer aficionado, movie buff, and lover of stand-up comedy. Most recently, Sean found fellowship, strength, love, friendship, and independence at QLI’s Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care Community, where he moved in July of this year. Sean lived his life as a Man for Others and follower of God, and a devout member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

Sean’s nieces remember him as kind-hearted and strong, a witty jokester with a warm and kind smile, always supportive and present for milestones and soccer games, and as an inspirational beacon of courage and tenacity.

The Family would like to thank the residents and staff at QLI for the care, love and friendship they gave Sean.

VISITATION: Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler, 7805 W Center Rd., on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 6 p.m., followed by a WAKE SERVICE at 7:00 p.m.

Swervin Dervin was a great classmate, teammate, and pal. If any of us need a smile, we can picture Derv doing a Diving Newt on the Prep Soccer Field.
