Sean Michael Murta, age 65, passed away surrounded by love and family at his sister’s home in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 24, 2024. Born in Omaha on November 12, 1958, to Gladys and Jack Murta, Sean remained a lifelong resident of the city he loved.
Sean built a rewarding career in heating and air conditioning, a field where he dedicated many years of hard work and helped countless people in need.
Beyond his career, Sean was a man of many passions. He was an avid football fan, a world traveler, a lover of good food, an outdoorsman, an enthusiastic golfer, and enjoyed a ride on his Harley any chance he got. His love for pets was unmatched. Sean was also a committed member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he proudly achieved 42 years of sobriety, dedicating himself to helping others on their journey to recovery.
Sean is survived by his loving children, Melissa Buffalohead and Meghan Johnson, with whom he joyfully reunited later in life, as well as his siblings: Bryon, Michaela, Kevin, Tom, John, and Kelly Murta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Jack Murta.
A funeral service to celebrate Sean’s life will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler. The service will be followed by a luncheon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the 12 Step House. Fried chicken will be provided, and guests are invited to bring sides and desserts for a potluck gathering.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sean’s hospice nurse, Teresa Beal at Aseracare, for her wonderful care and dedication during his final days.
Sean will be remembered for his generous spirit, warm smile, and the profound impact he had on everyone he met. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and those he helped throughout his life.

U will be missed Sean 🥰
Sean’s impact on all our lives will continue on. What an amazing standing room only service yesterday. He had an overwhelming spirit that lifted everyone in his presence. Sean was a true patriot who put country, principle and time with friends over material possessions. The Lord is honored to have Sean in his presence.
Sean was a great friend. Prayers to the family.
