Phyllis Mae Shanahan Jan 16, 1919 – Oct 8, 2016 Mrs. Phyllis Signall Shanahan died peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 5:07 p.m. surrounded by her family in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born on January 16, 1919 in Manning, Iowa. Phyllis Granny Pokey is survived by her daughter, Katie Shanahan Reiman of St. Gabriel, LA; son-in-law, Robert L. Reiman; and three grandchildren: Brad Fourrier (Chelsea), Aimee Fourrier Dawes (John David) and Beau Fourrier (Jewel), all of Baton Rouge, LA; six great-grandsons: Owen, Jack, Porter and Chase Fourrier and Davis and Patrick Dawes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Shanahan of Omaha, NE; her parents, Phillip and Katie Signall of Carroll, Iowa; and her brothers and sisters: Howard Signall, Eileen Stone, Florence Scharfenkamp, and Marita Shelle. She held several secretarial jobs in a few different states as she traveled with Harold with his job working for Allied Chemical. They lived in Omaha and then moved to Virginia, then back to Omaha, and then to Louisiana where she worked for the Water Pollution Control (EPA). After 11 years in Baton Rouge, they moved to Green River, WY before returning to Omaha, where she retired from the National Park Service. Almost five years ago, Granny moved south to be closer to Katie, Bob, her grandkids and great grandkids. We will continue to celebrate her life Saturday, October 15th, with VISITATION FROM 10am to 12noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church and MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 12noon. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Thomas More Church.
