Sharon K. Emery

December 11, 1942 – July 24, 2021

Age 78, known affectionately as “Burkie” and “Nana,” passed away at 6:34 pm with her family and friends by her side.  Sharon was born to the late James and Helen Burke, in Illinois.  She graduated from Madonna Catholic High School in Aurora, Illinois and she attended Creighton University where she was the lead Blue Jay Cheerleader.  After college, she never stopped cheering for family and friends.

She married John C. Emery in 1967, and they lived together on Capitol Avenue for almost 33 years before relocating to Silverwood.  Sharon is survived by John; son, Robb; daughter-in-law, Cathy; two granddaughters, Alessandra and Madeline; brother, Mike Burke; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Burke and Elaine Burke; nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by daughter, Courtney; brother, Kevin; nephew, Tim; sister-in-law, Nancy.

Sharon dedicated her life to various charities in Omaha, to include the mentoring program at Sacred Heart School.  She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.  Even as her health declined, her optimism for life and love for family and friends only increased.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 30th from 5pm to 7pm with a WAKE SERVICE to follow at 7 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 S. 86th Street.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, July 31st at 10:30am at Christ the King Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people make donations to Duchesne Academy c/o the Courtney Ann Emery Ministry Fund, 3601 Burt Street, Omaha, NE 68131.

    Sharon was like a second Mom to me!
    She had style and charisma and always showered me with love.
    She will be greatly missed!

    Sorry to hear about Sharon’s passing. I taught Courtney and she was so great. I remember how nice Sharon was.
