Shari K. Pate
December 17, 1956 – March 22, 2025
Sharon (Shari) Pate was a lifelong resident of Omaha and died at the young age of 68. Shari battled several health issues over the past several years and passed away at home with loved ones by her side on March 22, 2025.
Shari was preceded in death by her father and mother, Al and Grace Holzapfel; her brother, Bob Holzapfel, and sister, Linda John. She is survived by her loving family, Mike (husband); Tara (daughter); and Natalie and Dominic (grandchildren). Shari also had a large number of siblings and including surviving sisters, Joan Hoffschneider, Kathy Holzapfel, Sue Holzapfel and brothers: Mike Holzapfel, Jim Holzapfel, Rick Holzapfel, Larry Holzapfel, and Al Holzapfel, and his wife, Kim Holzapfel. She also has several nieces and nephews and loved every one of them with all her heart.
Shari and Mike were married on September 23, 1978. Shari had a lengthy career in banking, excelling as an executive loan administrative assistant with First Westroads Bank and United Republic Bank, where she retired from in September 2018. She had a helping heart and would never say no to anyone who asked for help. Shari was a hard worker but also liked to keep the office “lively”. She loved to play practical jokes on people and tell corny jokes and people loved that about her.
Shari loved Disney and she and her family made annual trips to Walt Disney World beginning in 1993 when Tara was 8 years old. Those trips became lasting memories for her and her family. Shari and Mike also loved traveling to the Caribbean including Playa Mujeres, Mexico, Jamaica and her two most favorite Caribbean destinations, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos.
Shari also loved Christmas and would spend hours upon hours decorating and preparing for the season. She loved having her entire family over for Christmas Eve festivities and preparing enough food for an army. She also enjoyed sitting outside during nice weather days and chatting with our great neighbors.
Shari had a deep faith and loved praying to the Virgin Mary. She would do anything for anybody anytime.
She will be missed by all who knew her and our world will never be the same.
Until we meet again in heaven. We all love you, Shari!

Loved working alongside Shari at United Republic Bank for nearly 5 years. She really knew her way around all things having to do with loan administration and servicing, and was very dedicated to what she was doing and her co-workers. Condolences to Mike and the entire Pate family.
We will miss Shari. I worked with her at both First Westroads and United Republic Bank. Our prayers are with you.
The Omaha banking community is thinking of you, Mike.
Sending thoughts, prayers and heartfelt sympathy to the family.
I worked with Shari about 25 years ago at Kiewit Middle where she was the front office receptionist. She was positive, happy, helpful, and kind. She always had a smile on her face, and students, staff, and parents felt comfortable interacting with her. She was a beautiful person in so many ways. My sincerest sympathies to Mike, Tara, and the rest of the family.
We are so sorry for your loss. We pray you, your children and grandchildren will feel the comfort of God’s love during this difficult time. My deepest sympathy-Shari was a fantastic person. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Shari was a blessing to work with at the bank and I always appreciated her professionalism and also her kindness.
I know that Mike will miss her greatly and I know his faith will help him in his time of grief .
I had the pleasure of working with Shari for several years. Her energy, joy and enthusiasm were infectious and seemingly endless. It was rare to see Shari without a smile on her face. She loved to laugh and never missed an opportunity to ask about my family and kids or give an update on Tara and her grandkids. While Disney and baseball were in the running, her deepest affections were for Mike and her faith.
Dearest Mike and family, Was shocked to hear about Shari’s death. I know the last few times we talked she seemed to be really struggling. I so enjoyed my time working with her at Cottonwood and Kiewit. My deepest prayers and sympathy are with you and your family. Pat Short

The memories that I have with Aunt Shari are all full of love and grace. She was such a warm loving person and I always felt very loved by her. I am very heartbroken that she is gone so soon. I know in my heart God has a higher purpose for her. Prayers to all who loved and knew her.
Mike, so sorry to hear this. I remember well the afternoons spent in the front yards of Westchester Circle. You, Tara and the rest of the family are in our prayers!
