Sharon L. Hanna
August 16, 1935 – May 4, 2024
Sharon Erickson Hanna was born August 16, 1935, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Parker and Frances Erickson. Sharon graduated from Omaha Benson High School in 1953.
In 1955, Sharon married Joe Hanna. That same year, she received an associate degree in education from UNO. She went on to receive her BS from UNO in 1981. Sharon taught with OPS in elementary education from 1955-1957 and again from 1984-1990.
Sharon was a dedicated member of several philanthropic and community organizations, including P.E.O., the Omaha Assistance League, and the PTA as a Life Member. Most importantly, Sharon was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church, serving in multiples capacities such as: Church School Director, teacher, and prayer chain coordinator. She could always be found supporting her husband in his ministry and leadership in the Church. Sharon received the International Award for Service to Youth from the World Church of her faith.
Sharon’s children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren were the light of her life. Her husband, Joe, was the love of her life. He was not only a friend but also a true partner in every area of life.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joe E. Hanna. Sharon is survived by her children, Sheryl Rosenbaum (Greg) and Mark Hanna (Nicole); grandchildren: James Rosenbaum (Katie), Stevi Kountze (Tyler), Dani Rosenbaum and Gaby Montenegro; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Jax, Graham and Parker Rosenbaum, Lyla Rose and Camden Kountze; and numerous extended family and friends.
VISITATION: Sunday, May 19th, 4 to 6 p.m., at West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 20th, 11 a.m., West Center Chapel.
