Sharon was born on December 20, 1937, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to George Crusinberry and Erna (Bern) Crusinberry. George’s career took them to Grand Island, Nebraska, and Sharon graduated from Grand Island High School in 1955. After high school, she worked in an administrative role at the local VA hospital. She later met Maynard D. Bosle, a farmer from Alda, Nebraska, and they were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island on January 10, 1959.
After a short stint in the military, Maynard became a butcher and the newlyweds moved to Blair, Nebraska, where Maynard worked. Two daughters, Vicki and Renee, were born in Blair, and after Maynard made a career move to Omaha, Julie was born.
After the girls were in grade school, Sharon began a long career as a medical secretary to several psychiatrists in the Omaha area. While juggling her work life, Sharon supported the many activities her daughters participated in—dance, cheerleading, gymnastics—and enjoyed watching them. Sharon was a die-hard Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, reading the Omaha World Herald from cover to cover every Sunday morning after a game. She was a strong support to Maynard in his career, especially when he owned and operated his own butcher shop, Western Meats. She helped him with various aspects of his business and prepared ads and other materials to promote its success. More than that, Sharon and Maynard were best friends. They sat together almost every night with a cocktail, discussing their work, family and future plans. Their kitchen became a popular hangout for the girls’ friends and family.
After the shock of Maynard’s sudden death in 2002, Sharon gradually embraced her new life as a widow. She eventually moved from the family home in Millard to Bryn Haven townhomes in Bennington. During her 15 years there she made amazing new friends and reconnected with old friends, seeing several life-long high school friends. She enjoyed a busy social life, attending plays, meeting friends for dinner, having wine nights with her neighbors and playing mahjong. Sharon especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. A highlight was her 80th birthday, when friends and family from near and far filled her home to celebrate this fun-loving and sometimes “spicy” lady.
Sharon is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Vicki and Jim Desmond of Eagan, Minnesota, Renee and Mark DeMay of Sioux City, Iowa, and Julie and Lee Coe of Omaha; grandchildren: Mark and Susan Coe, Kramer and Kendra Martin, Zach and Allie Desmond, Grace DeMay and Ace Coe; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Hailey Coe. She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved husband, Maynard.
Memorials are suggested to Omaha Community Playhouse.
