Sharon Mary Finnerty-Prucka
August 7, 1934-May 14, 2023
Sharon Finnerty-Prucka, age 88 of Omaha, NE passed away on May 14, 2023 after a long COPD battle. Sharon was born August 7, 1934 in Omaha, NE to Albert and Ruth (Maryott) Finnerty. Also preceding Sharon was her husband Frank H. Prucka and brothers Joe and George Finnerty.
Sharon is survived by her children, Diane Reiners, Daniel (Mari Jo) Reiners, and Nancy (William) Steele; her seven grandchildren: Jenny (Robert Leach) Goelz, Kelly (Stephanie) Goelz, Robin (Curtis) Krumreich, Morgan (Jeff) Rebholz, Evan (Christopher) Childs, Collin Steele, Jordan (Mitch) Campbell; seven great grandchildren and two brothers, Albert Finnerty and John Finnerty.
Sharon was a lifelong educator and finished her teaching career at Benson High School in Omaha, NE. She retired from Omaha Public Schools in May 1999 and briefly taught art at the Omaha Home for Boys. Sharon earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and a master’s degree from Kearney State College, Kearney, Nebraska. Before moving to Omaha, Sharon previously taught in Wallace, Wilcox, Axtell, and Stuart Nebraska.
A CELEBRATION of Sharon’s life will be held at 11 AM on May 19, 2023 at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuary in Omaha, NE. This event will honor her memory, and all who knew and loved her are invited to attend. A luncheon will follow Sharon’s Celebration service.

Sharon was our next door neighbor too short a time. We enjoyed her happy smile–always there to greet us–and will miss her glad presence. Nancy and I cherish memories of Sharon and pray that time grant some measure of comfort to her family. .
