My condolences to the Sisters of Notre Dame and to Sr. Barbara’s family. I am grateful for all that Sr. Barbara did for the Church here in the Archdiocese of Omaha; especially her work in the family Life Office. Sr. Barbara ought to be remembered as one of the great leaders in giving the Church tools with which to carry out its Mission to the people of God.
Sr. Barb was many things to me, friend, counselor, teacher, cheerleader, mentor and above all example of what a woman of God is. She has been a part of my life from the time I was a child and responsible for my becoming a therapist. She experienced much pain some of it from within her own Church, yet she kept her faith. My love for her leaves an empty void in my heart now that she is gone, but I know God is enjoying her quick wit and Irish sense of humor.
Many positive memories. R.I.P.
Sr. Barbara Markey (Sr. John when I was in high school), was a positive influence in my life throughout my high school days! Se was the director/producer of “The King and I” while I was in high school at Neumann High School in Wahoo! Will always remember her, and the impact she made on my life!!
Being mentored by Sister Barb is among my greatest blessings as a Catholic family life minister. Sincere condolences to her family and community. May she rest peaceful in the everlasting arms of God.
Teacher, mentor and treasured friend who gave so much to so many. Her faith and strength even in adversity was amazing. In the hardest of times she continued to give of herself and her talents. She was an extraordinary woman who will be missed by many whose lives she touched. Rest In Peace dear friend.
