Mary Ann Steele March 27, 1947 – June 27, 2016 Mary Ann Steele, 69, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Merrill, IA, went to be with the Lord on the morning of June 27, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1947, in Sioux City, IA to Eugene and Lucille Sweum. She grew up with two brothers, Howard and Louie, and graduated from East High School in Sioux City. Mary was united in marriage to Delmer Steele on June 15, 1967. She and Del had recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. They raised three daughters: Sharon, Lillian, and Jeanette. Mary enjoyed sewing, art work, reading, and music all her life. She was always creative and loving and shared her home and talents with others. She would often crochet afghans and baby blankets for family and friends. She donated many handmade items including hats, gloves, and scarves to cancer patients and other items to the Goodwill. She enjoyed traveling to Texas for the winter, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She was always supportive, strong, and accepting of people. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Howard, and her infant daughter Michelle. She is survived by her husband, Delmer Steele; children: Sharon and husband Perry McClary, Lillian and husband Steve Dawes, and Jeanette and husband Tim Fenner; six grandchildren: Amber, Ashley, and Andrea McClary, Bobbi Dawes, and Jazmine and Evyn Fenner. Mary loved Jesus and her family with all that she had. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 29th, from 6pm to 8pm at the Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Rd. SERVICES Thursday, June 30th at 10am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4117 Terrace Drive. GRAVESIDE SERVICE Thursday, 2:45pm at East View Cemetery in Allen, Nebraska. Memorials will be directed by the family.
