Stephen Alexander Cathcart was born on December 28, 1982. He went to join his older brother, Jason, whom he deeply loved, admired, and missed on September 20, 2014. Stephen graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 2001, where he was active in show choir and drama. Since then he worked as a chef at several local and metro area restaurants. At the time of his death, he was employed at the Rand Center. Stephen prided himself as being an individualist. He enjoyed tinkering around in his workshop (barn), cooking meals for his family and doing some gardening. One of his biggest joys, however, was taking the dogs out for nature walks as he appreciated his country environment. He was an avid reader (internet style) and continued to educate himself in the same manner. He also enjoyed watching old and new movies on TV. He was a Dr. Who devotee. Stephen is survived by his parents Joe and Susan Cathcart of Missouri Valley, Iowa, aunts and uncles Joanne Pulju, Maria and Herb Hastings, Jerry and Cathy McEathron, and Craig and Lois McEathron; and cousins Matthew McEathron, Janet McEathron, Amanda McEathron, Darren McEathron, Nicole Pulju, Rebecca Pulju, Cory Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Jenny Peterson, Molly Perry, and Jesse Seidel; friends, and his special dog Bella. He will be missed deeply by all of them. Stephen is preceded in death by his brother; Jason Cathcart. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the United Methodist Church.
