Steve Bertram

BERTRAM, Steve, Jul 10, 1955 – Oct 25. 2009. Steve L. “Bert” Bertram, the son of James Byron and Winifred (Burke) Bertram was born, July 10, 1955 at the Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri. Steve lived in Rock Port, Missouri and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1973. He then attended Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph, Missouri, for 2 years. While in St. Joseph, Steve worked three years for Skaggs in East Hills Mall, and then returned to Rock Port. He then worked three years for Super Chevrolet in Tarkio, Missouri and later for True Ag in Rock Port. In 1986, Steve and Sheila Hargus, his best friend and lifelong soul mate of 37 years, moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where Steve was employed with Transportation Specialist Inc. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Transwood Carriers Inc., where he had worked 22 years. Steve passed away October 25, 2009, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 15 days. Steve will be greatly missed. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Earl and Edna Bertram, and Thomas and Lucille Burke. Survivors include, Sheila Hargus of their home in Omaha; brother, Tom Bertram, Maysville, Missouri; aunt, Phyllis Bailey of San Antonio Texas; cousin, Joann Embrey of St. Joseph; Sheila’s sisters, Shirley Rader and her husband John, Fairfax, and Lynnette Strough, St. Joseph; Sheila’s nieces, Jennifer (Rader) Weydert, and her husband Jared, Macon, Missouri, and Danielle (Ramsey) Johnson and her husband Chris, Maryville, Missouri; Sheila’s nephews, Tony Rader and his wife Chris, Mound City, Missouri, Brett Strough and his wife Kylee, St. Joseph; Sheila’s great nieces, Jacey Rader and Kennedy Weydert; Sheila’s great nephew, Derek Weydert; and many, many friends and co workers. Services: 11:00 am, Thursday, October 29, 2009, West Center Chapel, Omaha. Public viewing at West Center Chapel will begin at 10:00 am, prior to the funeral service. Graveside Service and Interment: 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2009, Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials: Abate of Nebraska District 6. There is no scheduled family visitation. Open visitation from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. Services directed by Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
