Steven Blancett

Steven M. Blancett

September 11, 1967 – July 27, 2024

Steven Blancett 56, of Sharpsburg, Iowa, passed away on July 27, 2024, in his home.
Steve was born on the 11th of September to Connie and Donald Blancett Sr. in Redwood, California. He grew up in Waterloo, Nebraska with his siblings Brenda and Don Blancett Jr. After graduating high school, Steve married Penny Jensen and they had two daughters together.

Although they divorced many years ago, they worked together to raise their children and were friends at the time of his passing. Steve went on to become an electrician and joined IBEW Local 22 where he worked on and off for 30 years.

Steve’s faith was extremely important to him. He spent a lot of time reading his bible and highlighting passages that spoke to him. He enjoyed cooking, rock music, riding his motorcycle, and husker football. Steve was also a jokester and loved making people laugh, even at his own expense. Above all else, Steve cherished his family. He loved spending time with his brother, Don, and loved his daughters, Devan and Kori, very much. He looked forward to holidays when the family would get together, and he could see everyone.

He will be dearly missed by those who loved him and who know he is at peace with his father, mother, and sister.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald Blancett Sr.; mother, Constance Blancett; sister, Brenda George.
He is survived by his daughters, Devan Blancett, Kori (Bradley) Blancett; grandchildren, Katerina Vugrin-Matherne, Jace Vugrin-Matherne; brother, Donald Blancett Jr.; nephew, Travis (Laura) Blancett; nieces, Justine (Joe) Carpenter, Amanda (Matt) Boganowski; and his beloved cat, Silly.

Steve was always a pleasure to work around. Although we were not closely familiar with one another, we always had a joyous time on the job with Steve being with us. I am sorry for the loss of a great man. I’m sure that he will be missed!

Steve always had a smile on his face. He was fun to work with and be around. We had some great nights out on the motorcycles back in the day! Miss you Skippy.
