Steven J. Gallagher, DDS, Col USAF (Ret)

July 20, 1948 – August 14, 2024

In loving memory of Steven J. Gallagher, who passed away peacefully at his home on August 14, 2024, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Charles Gallagher.  He is survived by his wife, Laurie; daughter, Jamie and son-in-law, Jake Haniszewski; granddaughter, Charlie and baby on the way; sister, Judy Niemann and husband, Bob; brother, Mark Gallagher and wife, Mary; nieces and nephews.

Steve graduated with a degree in periodontics in 1978.  He joined the Air Force and reached the rank of Colonel.  After retiring from the Air Force, he had a private practice for several years.

Steve was an avid tennis player and enjoyed racing his cars.  The biggest joy in his life was spending time with his family and friends.

VISITATION: Monday, August 19th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. 

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, August 20th at 10:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 5419 N. 114th St. 

Interment, Resurrection Cemetery with Full Military Honors. 

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association, Open Door Mission, and Siena/Francis House.

    So sorry to hear this! Always enjoyed playing tennis with Steve. Then hanging out with Dave Weber & Dan Sloboth.. Always great stories and memories with that group. He will be missed by many!

    We send all our love and prayers to Laurie,Jamie,Jake and Charlie. Steve Gallagher will be remembered as one of the great ones. He was warm and caring and loved his family. I hope he’s playing tennis with his buddy Dan Sloboth.

    So sorry to heard of Steve’s passing. Steve and I go way back to our days as Sigma Nu’s and our years in dental college. After many years our love of high speed driving renewed our friendship. May your memories of Steve’s love comfort you.

    I served with Steve for many years. He was a hard worker, and a great colleague. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to the family.
