Steven James Kolar

Steven James Kolar

September 1, 1954-June 3, 2024

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Steve, a man who carved his own path through life with a smile.  Steve was born in Omaha, NE to Edward J and Vianna Kolar on September 1, 1954, and passed away on June 3, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He shared his childhood home with his parents and two brothers, Edward and Thomas.  Throughout his youth, Steve cultured a true passion for the outdoors as his family were avid campers and loved hiking in the mountains and spending time fishing.  Steve used his love for the outdoors to accomplish the rank of Eagle Scout, something he was very proud of.  Steve graduated from Westside High School in 1973, where he met some very like-minded individuals in building street rods.  Steve loved to work on cars, whether it was restoring or customizing, this hobby continued to be a large part of his life.  After high school he went on to work for MUD holding multiple positions in the company.

Steve met the love of his life, Patricia, in 1978 and married in 1980.  Together they had four children, Seth, Molly, Annie, and Gracie.  While raising their family with Patty running things at home, he was able to start Frontier Fuel Lines. With his uncanny attention to detail and unshakeable standard of treating people how he wanted to be treated, he was able to flourish until retirement in 2024.  As an amazing innovator, inventor, and industry leader he created a business that had the reputation for doing all the jobs “that couldn’t be done.”  He was a true pioneer in his profession and set the industry standard with adhering to accountability and “do it once, do it right”.  Work was never just work for him, making many lifelong friendships with his customers.

Although Steve maintained his hobbies and was always busy with the business, his true passion was his family.  Always involved in our daily lives, rarely missing an event, and never missing an opportunity to help.  Spending countless hours fishing, boating, and swimming with his family at Table Rock Lake brought him true joy.  He was so proud to see his children grow into their own families and loved spending time with his eight grandchildren.  Watching him as a grandfather was another example of how blessed we were to be around this man.  No matter how he felt, there was always time to spend with his family.  He had a unique sense of humor which we all enjoyed and was always up for giving out advice like only he could.  He was an amazing teacher with the ability to make even the most mundane of tasks into a good experience.

Steve is survived by his wife, Patty; son, Seth (Hillary, Charlotte, and Wyatt); daughters: Molly (Eric, Abraham, and Celine), Annie (Nathan, Owen, and Luke), and Gracie (Mike, Penny, and Beau). We will uphold his strong faith in God, hard work ethic, and focus on family.  There will not be a day that passes when we will not use something that he taught us.
