Steven L. Howell

Steven Leroy Howell

May 13, 1957 – February 20, 2024

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Marie Buras Howell. He is survived by father, Robert (Bob) L. Howell and step-mother, Shirley Andrews in Omaha; brother, Michael (Mike) Howell and wife, Betty Dudzik of Papillion; step-sister, Brooke Deal of Omaha; nephew, Brendon Howell and wife, Krystial of New Jersey; niece, Meghan Howell Galloway and husband, Rob of Florida; step-nephew, Cheyenne Deal of Omaha.  Steve was especially proud to be Great “Uncle Steve” to four amazing great-nephews:  Gavin Galloway, Jaxen, Elliott (Eli) and Kamdyn Howell.  Also survived by aunt, Deann Howell of Urbandale, IA; uncle, Jack Howell of Gilbert, AZ; cousins and great cousins in NE, IA & AZ.  Steve had only a few close friends in his life, with loyalty being his greatest trait. His two dogs were his buddies until the end. He will be missed by all.

Steve was a painting contractor & master color mixer in Omaha. He retired a while ago due to his health. He was an avid fan of classic cars, model cars and Hotwheels. And he loved Westerns—old and new, from movies to tv shows. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing before his health made that harder to accomplish.  Steve was an avid bowler in the American Legion league at West Lanes. His bowling prowess included a high 200’s average. He rolled many games of 295 & 298 and two or three of the elusive 300 games. He was generally quiet, preferring to be in the background at family and friend events.  He could be generous with his time and stubborn to a fault but that made him even more lovable. He never missed events, particularly with family. Family was too important.  His heart wore out in the end. He will be missed by his family and his friends. He’d want us to move forward knowing he is still looking out for all of us from above, just in case we need him.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Sunday, February 25th, at 2 p.m. with VISITATION starting at 1 p.m., at West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Humane Society.
