Steven (Steve) Eric Carlson

Steven (Steve) Eric Carlson, 67 of Omaha, Nebraska, entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2025. He passed surrounded by his wife and children, making a final generous offering through Live On Nebraska.

Born December 4, 1957, in Riverside, California, Steve was the third born son of Major Fred A. and Patricia J. Carlson, his childhood was spent among the world, calling a variety of Air Force bases home before the family came to reside in Bellevue, Nebraska.  Upon graduation from Bellevue High School in 1975 Steven said goodbye to his beloved long hair and entered into his own military service. After serving six years in the United States Navy, he settled in San Diego, California.  Steve, with his acute curiosity and passion for the natural world, enjoyed spending time both in the sand and hiking the sun kissed hills of southern California. He shared this enthusiasm with his children through travels and adventures, with many a summer night spent under the stars.  As a parent he endeavored to impart a thirst for knowledge and to teach the balance that is required by life for planning and flexibility; always stressing the importance of working towards the next goal. Steve spent over 35 years working for Digital/Hewlett Packard, making numerous lifelong connections. Though he relocated to Omaha, Nebraska in 2007 he continued this work till his retirement in 2019. He was a steadfast member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years and found great comfort in his faith. In his retirement he enjoyed the ample time indulging his hobbies, from reading to day trips.  He cherished this time as grandpa, attending countless concerts, games and school programs. Regardless of the activity he was proudly there, with all his love always.

Steve is survived by his wife Carol, three children Erik (Jen), Erin (Gerrett) Bassett and Emily (Andy), two step sons Aaron Williams and Bobby (Lexi) Williams, eight grandchildren (Ava, Elise, Violet, Evelyn, Olive, Ember, Everett, and Everest), his three brothers Mark, Paul, Bill and his sister Trish (Steve) Lamb and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Major Fred A. (USAF Ret.) and Patricia J. Carlson and his nephew Benjamin Carlson.
