Beryl J. Stovie

Beryl J. Stovie

December 24, 1945 – April 20, 2024

Beryl Stovie, born in Omaha on December 24, 1945, peacefully passed away on April 20, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Beryl was a South High graduate and later went on to work at Mass Mutual Insurance Company for forty years before retiring.  She didn’t stay retired for long though, and soon went back to work, this time working for Private Investigator Dennis “Denny” Whelan at the Whelan Detective Agency for approximately five years.

To say that Beryl’s favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers, would be an understatement.  She would best be described as the number one Packer fan in the entire State of Nebraska.   Both Larry and Beryl visited Lambeau Field countless times to watch their Packers play.  If anyone had a question as to her level of Green Bay Packer fandom, all they had to do was take one step into her basement living room where they were instantly overwhelmed with wall-to-wall memorabilia in support of the green and gold.  Beryl was even a part owner in the Green Bay Packers Inc. and had the certificate and paperwork to prove it.  Beryl also loved her arts and crafts, making countless cross stich pieces that decorated her house, were given to friends and family, and some that even won her awards at local art shows and the state fair.

As much as she loved these things, they couldn’t hold a candle to how much she loved her husband of 56 years, Larry.  In addition to her husband Larry, Beryl is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Mick and Cathy Richter; her nephew, Joe Richter and his wife Blanca; her nephew, Anthony Richter; her niece, Emily Bowman and her husband, Jack and their two children, Josiah and Tessa; and her niece, Sarah Richter and her fiancé, Josh Herrera.  She had a special and unique bond with each of them and loved them very much.  Beryl is also survived by her lifetime friend, Akiye Rebarich.

Beryl was preceded in death by her father John Brandon Jr., and her mother, Mary Ann (Thomas) Richter.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, April 25th, 11:00 a.m. at West Center Chapel.
