Susan Kay Snuggerud
November 13, 1953- May 4, 2025
In Loving Memory of Susan Kay Snuggerud
Susan Kay Snuggerud, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 71.
Susan was born on November 13, 1953, in Parkston, South Dakota. She later moved to Sioux Falls during her high school years, where she continued to grow and thrive.
On June 16, 1974, she married Arvin Snuggerud, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion. In 1999, Susan and her family moved to Nebraska, where she continued to build a life rooted in love, faith, and quiet strength.
Susan began her career as a nurse, dedicating herself to the care and well-being of others. Later, she worked as a secretary before embracing her most cherished role–being a grandmother. Her deep compassion and calm presence touched everyone she encountered.
Susan found great joy in simple pleasures–knitting, tending to her yard, the love she had for all her dogs, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Her pride in her family was unwavering, and she supported them with quiet encouragement and unconditional love.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Arvin Snuggerud; her son, Matt Snuggerud, and his wife Courtney; and her cherished grandchildren, Tayden and Harleigh. She is also survived by her siblings Sandy (Garnet) of Regina, SK; Jim (Cindy) of Brandon, SD; and Sarah (Dale) of Sioux Falls, SD; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jason; her grandchild, Roux; her father, George Wegehaupt; and her mother, Ruth Wegehaupt.
Susan will be remembered for her kind heart, her gentle presence, and the unwavering love she showed to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she helped create.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society in honor of Susan’s love for animals, or to the Alzheimer’s Association to support continued research and care.
