Gerald Patrick Pat Sweetman Oct 31, 1934 May 22, 2016 Pat died peacefully at the Josie Harper Hospice House after bravely battling cancer for the past year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents, Hugh and Bernice Fritz Sweetman; brother, Hughie Sweetman. He is survived by his children: Julie Stessman (Ted), Paula Drusch (Kevin), Michael Sweetman, Tim Sweetman (Ronda), Mark Sweetman (Jill), Tom Sweetman (Allison), and Susan Kovar (Dale); sister, Molly Hoefer (Fred); 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Pat spent the last 15 years of his life in Omaha following the death of his wife, Donna. He enjoyed watching his grandchildrens sporting events and spending time with family. Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed exchanging books with his daughter, Paula. Dad will be missed most for his gentle and kind spirit and his easy sense of humor. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Estabrook Cancer Center and Methodist Hospital for their expertise and care for dad. Our deepest gratitude is to the palliative care team at Methodist Hospital and the staff at Josie Harper Hospice House for their kindness and care for dad and all of us. VISITATION begins Wednesday, May 25th at 10:30am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 11am at the church. Interment will be in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Leo the Great Parish or Josie Harper Hospice House.
