Terrence Leon Strawhecker, a man of deep faith, loving husband, father, papa, brother, master storyteller and entertainer, sharp dresser, accomplished griller, and avid Husker fan, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020. Terry was born in Omaha on August 20, 1937 to Les and Leone Strawhecker. Terry attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, graduated from Holy Name High School and went on to Creighton University. Terry briefly attended the seminary, but God had a different plan.  And so the journey began. He wed Jackie Sullivan in 1959, they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage. Family was first, yet for a career, he was made for a sales role. Terry was the consummate salesman. His silver hair was matched only by his silver tongue. His career took them across the mid-west, gaining customers along the way, but more importantly, life-long friends. He had a unique ability to connect people and make the world smaller. He often said “I believe we can find common ground if we just ask 3-4 questions of people.”  And boy, did he ask those questions. He was larger than life. As a result, he lit up most every room he entered. To know him was truly to love him.

So very sorry for your loss . I have never been around a family that had so much love for one another. You were so blessed to have a dad that loved you unconditionally.

  • Tom Godfrey Posted March 8, 2020 5:42 pm

I have always held this man as well as this entire family in such high regard as simply good people. This started with their parents and it wasn’t hard to see that. Growing up with them in Liberal Kansas was a blessing so much so that we had three members of the Strawhecker family in our wedding service with Mr. Strawhecker as our lecture. His grace and style is continued in his family. You were a gift to know Sir.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Terry! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Bud was reminiscing this morning about Terry. Bud was a buyer at National Beef in Liberal and bought from Terry. Terry talked Bud into playing golf for the very first time. Bud said no and Terry said left handed huh? He asked Bud if he could come up with some left handed golf clubs in an hour , would he play. Bud said sure thinking that Terry could not find golf clubs on that shout of time he said about 20 minutes later he was back with a set of left handed golf clubs. They played together in the National Beef Golf tournament. Bud said Terry had a wonderful sense of humor. RIP TERRY !🙏🙏

The Strawhecker family moved to Sunset in the 70’s. Immediately our family bonded! We had 6 kids and they had 8!! A friend for every child. And it was that way. My sister Jaque was friends with Tiff and Tracy; Bobby with Trevor and Try, Clendon with Ty, and I fell in love with Terry and Todd, LOL! They then moved to Webster. Crazy thing? Mart and I moved into the ‘Strawhecker House’ on Webster years later. We have made major renovations, yet we still find ‘Strawhecker’ remains, LOL! When we ripped out the master bath, behind the Medicine chest, in the wall, was sooo many razor blades! Mart said, can you imagine the Strawhecker DNA there? God bless you all, your daddy was so wonderful. He always greeted me with a warm hug, never forgot my name, and will always be precious in my heart.
