Terry was born on April 18, 1942, in Los Angeles, California.  The family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska due to the outbreak of World War II and his father’s service in the Navy.  He graduated from Central High School in Omaha and joined the U.S. Army in 1962.  His service to our nation in the Green Berets, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the State Department led him to Israel where he met and married the love of his life, Monika.  In 1981 they relocated to Switzerland to care for Monika’s terminally ill father and help on the dairy farm.  In 1994 the family of six relocated to Omaha, NE to be the primary caregivers for his aging mother.

Terry will always be remembered as a loving husband, playful Daddy, adored Grossvati (Grandfather), Uncle T, and a kind and loving soul to any person who crossed his path.

He was preceded in death by parents, Tom and Dorothy Maides, brother, Tommy “Skip” Maides.  Terry is survived by wife, Monika (Saxer); children: Michael Maides (Jaclyn), Elisa Armstrong (Andrew), Benjamin Maides (Ashley), Timothy Maides; 12 grandchildren.

Indiansiche Weisheit
    Rest in Peace Terry!

My sympathy to the Maides family. I did not know Terry but my brother, Glen, was a classmate of his at Central High. Terry learned Glen was very ill and visited Glen shortly before he passed several years ago. As we get older, the friends of our youth become even more important. After reading the story of Terry’s life, I understand his life was full of reaching out to others in need. His life is a lesson to us all as you honor him at this sad time.

  • Joe Brown Posted December 12, 2021 1:38 pm

Terry often spoke to me of how he had to travel across an ocean to find such a wonderful wife as Monika. He spoke with such delight when he talked about his children. When he spoke of his grandchildren he had a special sparkle in his eye. Terry was my sincere enduring friend . The sadness we who are here bear is met with heavens great joy.. Goodbye my friend..

To each of you precious ones in the Maides family , I send heartfelt condolences at this time of loss. Loss of a loving, kind, generous, Godly man.. Oh how he loved his family…and his Lord. I knew Terry many, many years ago; he was instrumental in me coming to accept Jesus as my Lord back in 1979. We recently reconnected via FB and have talked Pro Life, scripture and always comparing how many beautiful grandchildren we had. His absence will be a huge void for each of you…but he has left you an amazing model to live out…into the next generations. God bless and comfort you and hold you very close as your mourn.
