Thomas Baum

Thomas Baum

March 10, 1959 – August 27, 2022

He was born into a Catholic family of 7 children . He was the fifth child of Melvin and Joan Baum. He grew up on a farm in Stuart Nebraska. He loved horses, playing basketball and hanging out with family and friends.

Grandma said he’d always run home after school to his baby sister in her crib.

He worked in the hayfield in the summer.

He was especially close to his younger brother Johnny, they were inseparable. If you seen one of them the other was not far behind.

After high school he moved to Omaha Nebraska. He started working in the hospitality industry. He was a very hard working man. He would work in this industry throughout his life. He loved everyone so this job was a good fit for him. In Omaha he would meet the love of his life, Patty.  Together they would have two children, Brittany and Jacob.  He loved his children more than anything. He was always talking about their achievements and how proud he was of them. He was a very spiritual person. He fought cancer for the first time in 87-88. His mom gave him a scapular. He wore this scapular the rest of his life.  He was the life of the party at family get togethers. He has dance moves for days.

He loved getting together with family and friends. If someone needed help he was always right there. He also loved dogs, he doesn’t have any grand kids but treated Brittany’s dog Nino as if he was one. Whenever someone was going out of town he’d volunteer to watch their dogs. He loved and cared for his family the best he could.
