If you knew Tom for just a day or for many years, you know that he was a man full of surprises and adventure. You also know that he loved his family and friends, working hard, solving problems, and serving others, while always having fun.

Tom was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Tom “Lee” and Vi Polk. He grew up with his two sisters, Terri and Jennifer, in their hometown of Waverly, Nebraska. Tom developed a love for the outdoors at an early age and spent much of his youth with family near Ord, Nebraska. Tom graduated from Waverly High School and then achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1986. He worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and ABB before he and Deanna started their own business, Power Delivery Services, Inc., in 1994.

In 1979, Tom met Deanna through mutual friends and by 1981 the two were married. In 36 years of marriage, the two raised three children, Courtney (26), Danielle (23), and Spencer (20) and spent time with family across the country.

Tom loved being in the outdoors, wildlife conservation, traveling, education, and developing youth. He traveled to numerous countries in five of the seven continents, often on hunting trips. An Eagle Scout himself, he was a Cub Scout Master and a Scout Master for Troop 407. He coached youth baseball for several years. In 2000, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning his own piece of land and in 2001 founded Bobcat Ridge (BCR), where family, friends, and colleagues gather to hunt, hike, and watch the sunset.

He passed away on a business trip in Huntington Beach, CA where he was in a seminar learning about the life of a transformer. Tom packed an amazing life into just 58 years. We are so proud of Tom and ask that you join us to celebrate his life!

I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve thought about you all every minute of every day since you left. I love you all so much and I know Tom is looking over you all right now as the dolphins are jumping and playing in the ocean waves in front of me. You’ve all blessed my life. Stay strong and stay amazing just like Tom!

I’m very sorry for your loss. I was very fond of Tom – I enjoyed working with him for many years and considered him a friend. We’d discuss hunting and the north central area of Nebraska we both enjoyed, and we’d compare notes on raising children. He truly enjoyed and lived life and it is reflected in his wonderful family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
