Thomas James Zegers

 November 18, 1953 – March 30, 2025

Tom Zegers, 71, of Papillion, Nebraska, passed away on March 30, 2025, from complications of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, John (Emily) and Daniel (Megan); grandchildren, Madison, Holden, and Hendrick;  sister, Judy (Rob) Formanek; brother, Mike (Leona) Zegers; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Bev) Fuhr and Darrell (Judy) Fuhr;  as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorothy Zegers; brothers, Gerald and Mark Zegers; in-laws, Ray and Adella Fuhr; brother-in-law, Mike Polacek.

He was born and raised in David City, Nebraska, and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1972. He dedicated 41 years of his career to the banking industry, serving the communities of Omaha, Lincoln, and York. Beyond his professional work, Tom was committed to his community, serving on numerous foundation and professional boards throughout the years.

Tom enjoyed the outdoors, especially walleye fishing trips with family and friends, golfing, and cheering on the Huskers and Cleveland Browns. He loved to travel, with some of his fondest memories including salmon fishing in Alaska and enjoying European and Caribbean cruises. Family vacations in the mountains, horseback riding, and fishing for walleye in Canada were among his most cherished times. Tom loved to ride roller coasters with his boys and was always seeking the next adventure.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa, who cherished spending time with his family, friends, and grandkids. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

VISITATION: Thursday, April 3, 2025, 5:00PM-7:00PM with a VIGIL SERVICE at 7:00PM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 15353 Pacific St., Omaha.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL:  Friday, April 4, 2025, 10:30AM, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

INTERMENT:  Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Family for donation to a selected MSA Research organization and for cemetery upkeep.

    Karen, John, and Danny, so very sad to see this about Tom. We sure have a lot of great memories, but our best memories are of the Phlames. Those were such great times. Tom always had great comments. What a great guy. Oh, to go back to those fun times. We need more Tom Zegers in this world.
