Thomas Jeffry “Jeff” Hix of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on December 29th after a battle with leukemia. Jeff was born on August 22, 1951, to Thomas James Hix and Barbara Hope Evans Hix in Laramie, Wyoming. After Jeff graduated from Benson High School in 1969, he went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska.
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he started his first job at OPPD as an engineer in the Operations Department, kickstarting a 36-year career and retiring with the title of Division Manager of Production Engineering and Technical Support.
On October 20, 1973, Jeff married Jane Harrow, and they went on to have four children, (Sara, Joe, Mike, and Stephanie.) He was very active in his kids’ lives as a coach, Boy Scout volunteer, Indian Princess Guide, and math and physics tutor.
In 2010, Jeff retired and spent his time golfing, hunting, fishing, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, traveling, spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dogs, working in the yard, and fixing things around his and his kids’ houses.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Jane; his sister Terry Dudley (of Topeka); his daughter Sara and her husband Dave and their children Evan (19), Logan (17), Hayden (14), and Cameron (12); his son Joe (of Chicago) and his wife Anna and their children Jameson (10) and Grayson (4); his son Mike and his wife Megan and their children Stella (6), Duke (5), and Ruby (3); and his daughter Stephanie and her husband Ryan and their children Shea (9) and Nolan (7).
A service will be held at Rejoice! Lutheran Church on Friday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. with lunch reception immediately following.

My condolences to the whole Hix family. Many great memories of playing golf, especially in Okoboji. May you celebrate the many great memories of your time with you husband and father.

I was saddened to learn of Jeff’s passing. I enjoyed working with Jeff at Nebraska City and on numerous other projects through the years. He always had a story to brighten your day. He was a good man and will be missed

So sorry to here of Jeff’s passing. Worked on many projects with Jeff at North Omaha Station and he was a great guy and fun to be around. He will be missed by all who knew him.
