May 16, 1953 – April 27, 2019

Thomas Patrick Shanahan of Omaha, Nebraska, born on May 16, 1953 in Sacramento, California, passed away at home on April 27, 2019, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his father, James Shanahan; mother, Joyce Shanahan (Stith); brothers: Mike and Dan Shanahan; sister, Maureen (Tis) Shanahan. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons: Tony (Beth), Sean (Jessica); stepdaughter, Kelsey Williams (James Witt); grandchildren, Dylan, Kyle, Ryan, Mady, Kaylin, Emma, Addy, Charlie, Everly, and Hayden; sister, Patti Shanahan; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend to many.  He was a passionate outdoorsman and big time Husker fan!

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 30th from 9am to 11am at the West Center Chapel, with Celebration of Life to follow at 11am.  Memorials will be directed by the family.

    Tom was a mentor, friend, father figure to me. I am deeply saddend by his passing, but am relieved that his pain is no longer. This world is a lesser place now, Tom is in a better place.

    Tom was one of the good guys that always smiled and lit up the room. He will be missed. So sorry for your loss.

    My condolences to Tom family Tom was very happy guy and really knowledgeable guy in the classroom And outside of the class I will miss him Rest and peace Tom
