Todd C. Smith

Todd C. Smith

December 7, 1977 – October 31, 2022

Todd Christopher Smith, 44, passed away peacefully on October 31,2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Todd was born in Omaha, Nebraska, the second son of David and Susan Smith.

A true middle child, Todd was a ball of energy and never one to shy away from the camera. The family moved to West Des Moines when he was 11, and Todd formed friendships there that he maintained his entire life.

After graduating from Valley High School, he attended the University of Iowa, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems.

After college, Todd moved to San Francisco, beginning his career with Infor, followed by Responsysen. Todd loved his career in marketing software, mentored by his uncle, Don Smith.

Todd returned to West Des Moines, where he was introduced to his future wife Regan Doyle. She was both the love and spice of his life. Todd and Regan were married on September 9, 2006, and had three incredible children. They were partners in every sense of the word, and were an example to all of a loving marriage, which was never more evident than in the last year. They faced the challenges of Todd’s illness together with strength and love. Todd cherished his role as a husband and father.

Todd loved golf, travel with his family, and spending time with friends and family. He lived life to the fullest, and words cannot express how deeply he will be missed by the many lives he touched. Todd truly enjoyed his work, and was at the pinnacle of his career when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Todd is survived by his wife, Regan; their children: Meyer Patrick, Teague Christopher and Cecelia Susan; his father, David (Tamara), brothers: Michael (Kristin) and Nicholas; stepbrothers: Adam Morford and Austin Morford (Chelsea); his mother and father-in-law Martha and Larry Doyle; brother-in-law John Doyle; grandmother, Pauline Marchese; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Todd was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Marchese Smith; grandfather, Alfred Marchese; and grandparents, Marie and Donald Smith.

The family would like especially thank Zoom Info, who went above and beyond to support Todd and his family these fifteen months, the team at Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University and Jill Mullholland whose exceptional nursing skills provided such peace and comfort in his final hours.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 4-7pm, at West Center Chapel with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, November 4, 2022, 10:30am, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14330 Eagle Run Drive. Interment: Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Smith Children Educational Fund.

Regan and Family, we are so saddened by Todd’s passing. We were neighbors in West Des Moines. The Smith’s with 3 boys, Dickmeyers with 4 boys, Rowland’s with 2 boys, Threlkeld’s with a son and we had 4 sons. Lots of sports memories and neighborhood dinners and backyard get togethers. Wonderful memories of Todd’s cheerful, smiling , handsome face. Blessings and peace to the family. All our best. Todd, a life well lived. The Beecher Family
