Dr. Robert G. Townley, M.D. Jul 27, 1928 – Sep 9, 2016 Robert died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter (Annette); brother, John; parents, Frances and Ernest. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Nancy Townley; his brother David of Oregon; children: Ellen, Joe (Karla), Theresa (Luke), Martin (Veronica), Rosie (Geoff ), Robert (Jacquelyn), Rachel Nordquist (Luke), Sarah (David), and Cate (David); grandchildren: Nick (Katie), Meghan (Ben), Mairead (Sean), Brigid (Matt), Conor, Liam, Nancy, Claire, Ann, Ellen, Mary, James, Rebecca, Joshua, Evvia, Dahlia, Trexler, Robert, Abigail, Zachary, Hannah, Thomas, Gretta, Heidi, Elena, Peter, and Cecilia; and great-grandchildren: Peter, Fitzgerald, and Madeleine. Dr. Townley was a dedicated physician and researcher at Creighton University. For over 88 years, he awoke with gratitude, eager to begin each day filled with faith, discovery and compassion. He had an insatiable appetite for learning about the world through traveling, reading and inviting people of all cultures and backgrounds to his home; he was a relentless advocate for the poor. The family will receive friends Friday, September 16th from 5pm to 7pm at St. John Catholic Church (2500 California Plaza, Creighton U. campus), with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Saturday, September 17th at 2pm at St. John Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Pius/St. Leo School Tuition Assistance; the Robert G. Townley Fund at Creighton University; or Columban Fathers.
