Walter J. “Joe” Vachal, Jr. Jul 22, 1950 – Feb 19, 2015 Joe Vachal, 64, died February 19, 2015, in Henderson, NV. He was born Walter Joseph Vachal, Jr. on July 22, 1950, in Omaha, NE to Walter and Florence (Thompson) Vachal. Joe attended South High School and UNO. He worked in the insurance and financial industries as a Systems Analyst until his retirement in 2012, when he realized a long-time dream of settling near Las Vegas. He was a talented woodworker, an avid Husker fan, and a collector of 1960s Las Vegas memorabilia. He is survived by his sister, Linda (Acie) Bettinger and nieces Amy, Lindsey, and Abbey Bettinger, all of Lincoln NE; cousins: Alex (Melissa) Glazier of Kensington, KS, Laura (Cesar) Palacios of Los Angeles, CA, Nikki (Brian) Hodge of Tucson, AZ, Jack (Rhonda) Glazier of Lakewood, CO, and Deb (Buz) Livengood of Salina, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin/friend, Charles Glazier of Salina, KS. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 3pm to 5pm at the West Center Chapel. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park.
