Frances J. Vazzano, age 101, was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Sam; her grandsons, Joseph and Anthony Vazzano; her parents, Sebastiana (Franco) and Carmelo Pattavina; and her siblings, Elizabeth DiMarco, Al Pattavina, Helen Barry, Josephine Kelley and Mary Brown.
She is survived by daughters, Jean Wooten (Dave) and Kathy Vazzano; son, Joseph M. Vazzano (Joni); nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and sister-in-law, Beverly Vazzano; and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was born at home to Italian immigrant parents and was raised in Omaha’s Little Italy, where she met and married her one and only love, Sam Vazzano, in1942 during WWII.
Frances was a long-time employee of Northern Natural Gas. She will be remembered for Sunday family spaghetti dinners, and Saturdays of homemade bread and pizza that she shared with friends and family who would drop by for a chat. She also spent many years as a volunteer cashier at Sons of Italy Hall, where Sam was one of the head cooks!
We will miss her great stories and unique sense of humor.
