Verda L. (Wilson) Werner

February 3, 1921 – December 14, 2018

Verda Werner, age 97, passed away on December 14th in Omaha, NE.  The daughter of Homer and Flossy (Underwood) Wilson, Verda was born near Arispe, Iowa on February 3, 1921.  She graduated in 1938 from Arispe High School and attended Simpson College before marrying Keith “Bud” Werner on August 15, 1940.  While her daughters were in school, she was active in parent-sponsored groups and served as a 4-H leader. Bud and Verda later moved to Omaha where she was employed by Clarkson Hospital. After her retirement, she volunteered for the American Red Cross for a number of years.

Verda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Elton; and “adopted” daughter, Judy Rosenbaugh. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Peacock (Evert) and Kay Werner; “adopted” daughters, Judy Lloyd and Judy Sexton; and by other relatives and friends, including Dick and Joyce Ross, Don Wilson, and Patty Miller, all of whom had a special place in her heart.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 17th from 4pm to 6pm at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler’s West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd. in Omaha.  SERVICES: Tuesday, Dec. 18th at 11am at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St. in Afton, IA.  GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Tuesday, 2pm, Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City, IA.  Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross or charity of your choice.
