Virginia Jane (Garrett) Bell
May 13, 1940 – April 3, 2022
Beloved mother and grandmother, Ginny passed away on Sunday, April 3rd at Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska after a brief illness.
Ginny was born to Dorothy and Walter in San Francisco, California. She grew up in the Bay area and graduated from James Lick High School in San Jose, California in 1957. In 1958, Ginny married Arnold Penrice; soon afterward, two sons were born: David in 1959 and Mark in 1960.
Ginny was preceded in death in 2014 by her husband of 35 years, Franklin Bell. Ginny and Franklin spent most of their married life in Columbia, Maryland where, both being true history buffs, they enjoyed visiting the Nation’s Capitol as well as many historical sights.
In 2018 Ginny moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be near family which gave her the wonderful opportunity to spend more time with her grandsons.
Ginny made friends easily and laughed often. She loved all things Disney and adored animals, especially cats. She enjoyed travel and was an avid reader. More than anything, she enjoyed making new friends and spending time with old friends.
Ginny is survived by sons, David (Christine) Penrice and Mark (Grace) Penrice; grandsons: Daniel (Elizabeth), Alexander, and Zachary. She leaves behind dear friends in Columbia, Maryland and at Sun Ridge Village in Omaha, Nebraska.
We will celebrate Virginia’s life with a special service at Sun Ridge Village, 13410 Blondo St, Omaha, Nebraska on Friday, May 13 at 10:30 am. Virginia will be interred at St Louis Parish and Cemetery in Clarksville, Maryland on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 at 10:30 am.

May God grant Ginny eternal rest and all who love her peace in happy times spent together.
I will always remember Ginny’s beautiful smile. Ginny always supported us, especially when my husband had his cancer surgery in 2020 and my open heart surgery November 2021. We are so blessed to have a dear friend in our lives. May God bless you my dear friend
My deepest condolences to David and Mark and your families. I first met Ginny and Franklin at a Republican Club meeting, over 12 years ago and we became good friends. Years later when I joined the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and we would discuss many things including how to bring more Catholics over to the Republican Party.. I miss all her wonderful ideas and our discussions. May she rest in Peace with her dear Franklin and the Lord.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your great loss. May God grant Ginny eternal rest with Franklin. So glad she is coming home to Maryland to be beside him as she planned.
