McGarr, Wanda Jean
October 3, 1936 – April 29, 2018
Wanda Jean McGarr was born in Sioux City Iowa on October 3, 1936. She graduated from Leeds High School in Sioux City IA. Her parents were Phyllis Stafford and Olin Gorsett. She had eight siblings: Dick Gorsett, Doug Gorsett, David Gorsett, Bonnie Eyer, Donna Wauhob, Linda Gorsett, Sandra Pallasch and Becky Niven (Dick, Bonnie, Donna, and Linda, all deceased). Wanda is survived by her children: two sons, Brian McGarr and Scott McGarr, both of Kansas City, MO; four daughters: Teresa Wheelock (Kevin) of Omaha, Alicia Hanson (Jay) of Omaha, Michelle Mann (Scott) of Sioux City, IA, and Niki Rocha (Jamie) of Hospers, IA; grandchildren: Valerie, Heather, Michelle, Derek, Noah, Abigail, Emily, Andrew, Tyler, Campbell, Ayla, Elise, Jordyn, Morgan and Kobe; great-grandchildren: Reese and Riley, Evan and Jared; sister-in-law, Sharon Asmussen (Neal).
Wanda was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sioux City, IA. She married Herbert Charles McGarr on September 22, 1957. Herbert died on October 31, 2009. She has missed him ever since. She loved gardening and lived for her children and grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home mother who doted on her children and grandchildren her whole life. She loved animals and especially gardening. She also loved “Footprints.”
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4th from 2pm to 4pm at the West Center Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family.
