Maude G. (Fodrea) Wangberg May 16, 1905 – Feb 6, 2015 Age 109 Maude Fodrea Wangberg of Omaha died peacefully, loved ones at her side, on February 6, three months shy of her 110th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, John B. Wangberg; parents, Pennington P. and Blanche Fodrea; sisters, Nellie Krebbs and Frances Forester; nieces, Zoe Janet Beisler and Marynelle Ausdemore; and nephews, John P. Krebbs and James Forester. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine Boyd and Thomas Corritore; niece, Genevieve Friend; nephew, Ronald Forester; numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grand nieces and nephews. The oldest living Nebraska woman was born in Grand Island, Neb., grew up in Omaha, and graduated from Mount St. Mary (now Mercy) High School. She attended Duchesne College before becoming a Vaudeville dancer. She toured the nationwide Orpheum circuit for five years as the “Whirl of Splendor” before marrying John Wangberg, a motion picture distributor. They raised their daughter, Lorraine, in Kansas City, Mo., and returned to Omaha upon his retirement. In Kansas City, she volunteered tirelessly for many Catholic organizations, work that earned her the Catholic Women’s Club’s highest award. The family will receive friends Monday, February 9th from 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Tuesday, February 10th at 10am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Benedictine Sisters in Clyde, Mo., the Franciscan’s St. Anthony’s Guild, or Mercy High School.
