Wayne A. Blum
April 9, 1951 – November 13, 2023
Wayne A. Blum, a lifelong resident of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born in Omaha and was a proud graduate of Benson High School.
Wayne’s life was a testament to the power of simple kindness and the joy of time spent with loved ones. Those who met Wayne, even just once, saw him as a fun-loving, great guy- a unique spirit who made friends effortlessly. Those who knew him well deeply felt the same, cherishing his genuine warmth and the easy camaraderie he extended to all. Wayne’s life was marked by his love for sports; he was an avid golfer, relished watching and discussing various games, and his passion for travel brought him many enriching experiences.
Beyond his hobbies, Wayne was a man of immense kindness, often volunteering to help his community. In honor of this, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Boys Town to continue his legacy of generosity.
Wayne’s 40 years at Union Pacific Railroad were marked not just by professional dedication but by the friendships and memories he made along the way. His ability to balance a fulfilling career with his unwavering commitment to his family was something truly special.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Corrine “Corky” Blum; children, Ryan Blum (Jen) and Sandie Vyhlidal (John); siblings, Barb Panzer and Jerry Blum (Bridget); extended family, including son-in-law, Aaron Baldwin; daughter-in-law, Ellen Wilson Hannon; adored grandchildren: Sophie, Ava, Grace, Hannah, Sam, Dylan, Zach, Jack and Emma; great-grandson, Varian.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ermin B. and Loretta M. Blum, Wayne leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and the enduring impact of his charitable spirit.
As we bid farewell to Wayne, we invite those who knew him to share their memories and stories, celebrating the countless moments of happiness and love he shared with all of us.

I’m so sorry for your loss. When I think of Uncle Wayne I have great memories of him. He was always so joyful and upbeat lifting everyone up around him. I will miss him. Praying for his family that you would have peace and comfort that only the Lord can bring.
Sorry to hear Wayne had past. I attended grade school at St Cecilia’s and part of high school at Omaha Cathedral with Wayne. I remember sitting next to Wayne in Sister Labore’s advanced algebra class and getting into trouble. Wayne, Rich Gardner and I had a memorable pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota after high school. You could drink beer in South Dakota at 18. We hit every bar in Aberdeen SD. Great Times. I would occasionally see Wayne over the years. He was always great to talk to and reminisce. My condolences to you during this difficult time
