William “Bill” Henry Ruppert, Jr.

William “Bill” Henry Ruppert, Jr.

December 1931 – April 2024

William “Bill” Henry Ruppert Jr. was born in Baltimore Maryland to parents, William Henry Ruppert and Erlieu Elizabeth Simpers. At a young age, Bill decided to become an orthodontist. He excelled in studies and worked steadily to pay for his education. He completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1953. In 1961, Bill graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine.

Following graduation, Bill enlisted in the US Public Health Services- Merchant Marines. He interned in Staten Island New York where he met “the love of his life” Joan Lillian Wright. Bill and Joan were married September 8, 1958. Together they traveled with a mobile dental unit and started their family. On a whim, Bill decided to take the Florida Board Certification, passed the certification and then moved his family “South”. Bill eventually opened his own orthodontic practice in Merritt Island, Florida. He cheerfully practiced orthodontics for 60 years.

Bill and Joan had 5 children together: Barbara Marie, William Henry III, Catherine Joan, Robert Wright, and Elizabeth Ann. Bill and Joan were passionate that each child explore their unique talents and were supportive of their endeavors. He had a love for tennis, boating, snow skiing, travel, and laughter. Bill will be remembered with his twinkling eyes, smile, nick names, and silly jokes. He loved life and lived by his motto “Enjoy each day, you will never get it back”. He is remembered by his friends at New Cassell Retirement as “the best-looking man at the table and for his humor”.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan: children: Bill, Cathy, Robert, and Liz; his grandchildren: Crystal Boucher, Will Ruppert, Anne Ruppert, Lexi and Owen Jansen, Chase and Jake Petri, Cody and Lucy Meyer; Autumn McCraken, and Jamie Lyons; and his great grandchildren: Mason Beecher, Madelyn and Mattew Boucher, Dakota and Emma Lyons, Ariel Worrall.

Memorial Service will be held in the New Cassel Retirement Center Chapel at 2PM on Saturday April 13, 2024.

I had the honor and the blessing to meet Mr Ruppert. He is an example of kindness, patience and love. He will always be in my memory as the grandfather I never had. We will see him again in the glory of the Lord for those who are his children. What a blessing and encouragement! My family’s prayer are with his family specially with his granddaughter Crystal. She is just as kind as he is!
