William E. Bertch
August 6, 1932 – December 23, 2018
William E. Bertch passed away on Dec. 23, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was born on Aug. 6, 1932 in rural Black Hawk County, IA to Kenneth and Teresa (Schmitz) Bertch, both of whom preceded him in death. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and worked for I.B.M. for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma (Becker); five daughters: Janet (Jim) Daley, Overland Park, KS, Julie (Del) Reibold, Papillion, NE, Karen Bertch (Jim Naughton), Lisle, IL, Lynne (Mark) Capoun, Omaha, and Jeanne (John) Workman, Omaha; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine siblings.
VISITATION begins Thursday, Dec. 27th at 4:00pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 6:30pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, Dec. 28th at 2:00 pm at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 “Q” St. Entombment: Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Gerald Catholic Church.

Norma and family we are so sorry to hear of your loss of Bill. Our thoughts and prayers are there for all at this time of your loss. We go back to the early 60’s We not only worked together but were friends. The four of us made some great memories together.
Tina, Jonathan, Jennifer and I will always remember Uncle Bill as the larger than life figure who was always happy and kind and made us laugh until we cried. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those he leaves behind. Eternal rest, Uncle Bill!
