William E Messick
January 29, 1943 – May 15, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, and papa, William (Billy) E Messick. He passed peacefully at home on May 15, 2023.
He served us, our community, and our country in a variety of ways, from the Army to the police force and ultimately as a special agent for federal investigations where he traveled the world. He was naturally talented in professional life and received several service awards throughout his career. His passion, however, was fishing.
He had a grace about him that made even criminals divulge their secrets. He was a father and papa to more than his own children and grandchildren. To most he was known simply as papa. Strong willed and stubborn at times, but also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge he gained through life experience.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Verden and Elizabeth Messick; sister, Sharon Messick; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jerry Plimmer; wife, Donna Messick.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Kerri) Messick, Jeremy (Angi) Messick; daughters, Tricia (Seneca) Harrison, Jennifer Messick (Dave); grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Davaun (Iulia) Brown, Aryannah Harrison, Ashley (Dylan) (Greyson, Sadie, Scarlet) Berlowitz, Nicole Messick (Blayne) (Aspen), Josh Messick, Marissa Messick (Aiden), Morgan Centamore (Tyler) (Theodore), Haley Centamore (Laurence), Hannah Bowels (Easton), Blake Duncan, Addie Shelton, Cadin Shelton, Devin Shelton.
INTERMENT AND GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 12:30pm., Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, NE 68138, LUNCHEON FOLLOWING: The Granary, 5500 Granary Plaza, Ralston, NE 68127
