William G. Stockdale

July 18, 1952 – March 27, 2017

Preceded in death by mother, Anita; mother-in-law, Irene Sprunk; nephew, Thomas Alan Preister. Survived by loving wife, Marilyn; children: Michael (Lindsey), David (Amanda), Kara, Katie, and Mark; four grandchildren: Lucy, Hazel, Jackson, and Anabelle; father, Marvin; father-in-law, LeRoy Sprunk, Sr.; brothers, Ned (Joanne) and Thomas (Peg); brothers-in-law: Daniel Sprunk (Brenda), David Sprunk (Jenay), and LeRoy Sprunk, Jr. (Kelly); sisters-in-law, Carolee Preister (Alan) and Virginia Semerad (Leroy); numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

Bill graduated from Creighton University College of Business and Creighton University School of Law. He also earned an LLM in Taxation from Denver University.  He practiced law in Omaha for 39 years.  Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son.  He was an avid outdoorsman and mentored many young men and women through Boy Scouts and coaching high school trapshooting at Prep and Marian for nearly 15 years.

VISITATION begins Friday, March 31st at 6pm at St. John Catholic Church, Creighton University Campus, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  Celebration of Bill’s life with a MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held Saturday, April 1st at 10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.  Private interment.  Memorials will be directed by the family.

    Our sincere sympathy, thoughts and prayers to Bill’s family. He was indeed an enthusiastic and friendly face at many trapshooting events.

    Marilyn and family, we are so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He will be truly missed by all at the Villa. Keeping you all in our prayers.

    Our hearts go out to the Stockdale Family. We will certainly miss him around the lake. I am sure he is hunting and chasing big fish in the sky!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
