William M. Carlson

William Max Carlson, “Bill”, age 73, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 peacefully at his home in Gretna, NE. Bill was born on April 27, 1946 in Shenandoah, IA where he found his love for farming. After graduating from Essex High School in 1965, he joined the Iowa National Guard and served faithfully for eight years. In 1967, he met and married the love of his life, Pamela Peterson, “Pam” of Atlantic, IA. The two were blessed with a daughter, Amy, in 1969 and son, Alan, in 1971. Bill worked extremely hard his entire life in many various jobs but found the most joy working with kids at Carriage Hill Elementary until his retirement in 2008.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel Carlson, Gertie (Graham) Carlson; sister, Kathy Campbell; brother-in-law, Gene Freese; numerous grand parents, aunts, and uncles. Bill is survived by his wife Pam; brother, Charlie Carlson; sister-in-law; Carole (Peterson) Freese; daughter, Amy (Jon) Koenig; son, Alan (Jen) Carlson; grandchildren: Kellin (Samantha) Koenig, Krista (Tony) Vacanti, Jace Koenig, Davis Carlson, Delaney Carlson, Dayton Carlson, Drew Carlson, great grandchildren: Bentley Koenig, Madison Vacanti, Vincent Vacanti, Robert Vacanti; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the West Center Chapel, followed by SERVICE at 11:00 a.m. Memorials will be directed by the family.
