William Robert Byam

BYAM, William Robert “Bill,” Feb 13, 1958 – May 4, 2010. Died Tuesday in Omaha at 52 years old. He was born to Richard and Patricia Byam and lived most of his life in Omaha, NE. He married his high school sweetheart Pamela (Holcomb) Baratta and was later divorced from her, never to remarry. Their daughter Autumn Dawn (Byam) Fast was his greatest joy in life along with his three-year-old granddaughter Allee Fast. Preceded in death by his father, Dick Byam. Survived by daughter Autumn Fast and companion Shane Watters and granddaughter Allee Fast of Omaha; mother Pat Byam of Omaha; brother Steve Byam of Greenbrier, TN; brother Jerry Byam and Jodi Neerings-Byam of Sandy, UT; sister Mary Byam-Smith and Greg Smith of Layton, UT; sister Carol and John Higgins of Omaha; many nieces, nephews and friends. Over the years Bill endured much in dealing with his drug addiction but nothing like the last two years with the physical challenges his liver disease gave him. He wanted desperately to survive and receive a liver transplant to tell even one young person the cost of using drugs. Our thanks to the medical professionals at University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) Liver Transplant Team for showing him dignity and that his life was worth caring about as they eased him into his final home. We would like to honor these professionals by asking in lieu of flowers, please consider donating a gift to the Nebraska Medical Center for the Liver Transplant Program; or memorials may be directed to the family. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at a future date. Enjoy the ride in the fast lane in your new hot rod Bill. You will be missed.
