William Stanley Graves Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday August 8, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 93. Bill was born on February 13, 1932, and was the eldest child of Noel and Mary Graves. Bill was the big brother to sisters, Joann and Janie and younger brother, Ted. Bill grew up in Omaha and after finishing high school he served in the Navy and received a United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (2 stars), Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Bill met his beautiful wife, Kathryn Sledge, and married on June 7, 1958. Bill and Kay have 6 children: Bill, Jr. (Susan Eikenbary), Mike, Diane (Robert Powell), Jim, Laurie, and Katie (Dirk Meyer Zu Drewer). And between their 6 children, they have 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Bill had a long successful career in banking where he started off as a teller shortly after returning from the Navy and retired from Wells Fargo Bank as Senior Vice President of Marketing.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Noel and Mary; sister, Joann, and younger brother, Ted and his beautiful daughter, Laurie.

Dad, we will miss you immensely. You were our “go-to” when life got tough, and our comfort when we needed clarity in this crazy world. You were always someone we could count on for sound advice without judgement. With 6 children I’m sure we kept you very busy. Because of the example you set, all your children have a deep love of family and a strong work ethic. This can only be attributed to your hard work and boundless love for us.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately with family.
