Willie H. “Bill” Morrison, Jr. was born July 21, 1936, in Minden, Louisiana to Willie “Hayward” Morrison and Nora Pritchard Morrison. He graduated from High School in Magnolia, Arkansas where he played trumpet in the band and was catcher on the baseball team. One of his fondest memories was traveling to St. Louis, Missouri to attend a Cardinals baseball game, and getting the autograph of his baseball hero, Stan Musial.
Bill attended The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. There he met Nona Brooks. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 25, 2019. Bill served in the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and worked for DuPont for 28 years. He and Nona lived in many different cities and parts of the country with their family before Bill retired and they settled in Nebraska. Bill achieved a Master of Business Administration from The University of Nebraska at Kearney. This led to a second career as adjunct faculty for UNK and Metropolitan Community College.
Active in his local church all his life, Bill served the church in many different positions from Youth Leader to Council Leader to Annual Conference representative. While in Kearney, Bill discovered The Kiwanis Club and was an active member for more than 25 years. He served as District Secretary for NE/IA Kiwanis for a number of years.
Bill shared a love of baseball, silly sense of humor, and dedication to service with his children: Laurie Morrison of Omaha, Rob Morrison (Denise) of Papillion, Melissa Morrison of Lincoln, and Tim Morrison (Celeste) of Haines City, FL; his grandchildren Helen Barsell (Josh), Wesley Morrison-Sloat, Kylie Morrison-Sloat, Jasye Morrison, Ellie Morrison, JT Morrison, Ben Morrison, Nick Morrison (Melinda), and Bailey Morrison; and great grandchildren: Chloe, Natalie, Lydia, and Ryder.
