Wilma Claire (Vogler) Denton
May 20, 1957 – March 30, 2024
Wilma Claire (Vogler) Denton, the youngest of three children, was born on May 20, 1957, in Omaha, NE.
Wilma graduated from Central High School and continued her studies at John Brown University, earning degrees in Christian Education and Recreation. She always had an affinity for numbers, which led her to later earn a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
She met the love of her life, Charles Allan Denton, in 1979 while both employed at St. Joseph Medical Center and they were married on June 28, 1986. Wilma’s greatest joy in life was raising her four boys. Her dedication to her children was evident in every aspect of her life, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments. In addition to wife and mother, grandma was her other favorite title. She cherished every moment with each of her four grandchildren and loved nothing more than having them all together.
Wilma generously gave her time and energy to various organizations. Among her many endeavors, Wilma was one of the founders of the Half-way Hoedown event at St. Margaret Mary Grade School. In addition, Wilma devoted countless hours to the Mount Michael bookstore. Her friendly demeanor made her a beloved presence among students, faculty, and visitors alike.
She was preceded to eternal rest by her son, Charles Edward Denton; mother and father, Willis and Dorothy (Merritt) Vogler; brother, Robert Vogler; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Nancy (Denton) Norton; aunts, Mary Mersman and Louise Sullivan.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Denton; sons, Robert (Abby) Denton, William (Dr. Kathleen) Denton, and Dr. Matthew (Dr. Mikaela) Denton; four grandchildren, Noah Pflug, Riley Patton, Hugo Denton and Eleanor Denton; sister Mary (Vogler) Spurlock; sister-in-law, Jody Vogler; cousins, Dr. Kathleen Sullivan McCoy and Roy Sullivan, along with other loving relatives.
