Sebastian A. Zarbano, M.D. Mar 16, 1924 – Nov 1, 2015 Served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was attached to the 31st Portable Surgical Hospital approximately 100 yards from the front line. Awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service at the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines, Dr. Zarbano also saw service on Bougainville and Guadalcanal. During his military service he developed a love for medicine which resulted in his attending Creighton University, graduating with Doctor of Medicine degree in 1954. He practiced medicine in the Omaha area for close to 50 years. Dr. Zarbano is survived by his wife of 69 years, Louise C. Zarbano of Omaha; four children: Mary Lou Proskocil (husband, Ed) of Omaha, John Zarbano (wife, Merlaine) of Oshkosh, WI, Rose Marie Eyberg (husband, Richard) of Overland Park, KS, and Margaret Zarbano of Omaha; eight grandchildren: Brian, Angela, Tony, Laura, Lisa, Nicholas, Maria, and Vincent; seven great-grandchildren; Jack, Nicholas, Arlo, Miri, Matthew, Roen, and John. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 4th, from 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Thursday, November 5th at 10am, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials are suggested to Poor Sisters of St. Clare, or may be directed to the family.
