ZOUCHA, Dr. Adam E.

Dr. Adam E. Zoucha Nov 15, 1925 – Jan 21, 2016 Adam E. Zoucha, age 90, passed away on January 21, 2016. He was born November 15,1925 on the family farm west of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Adam and Mary (Chohon) Zoucha. He left Cedar Rapids at age 13 to attend Sacred Heart High School in Omaha. Shortly after graduating he enlisted in the Navy, training as a medic. He had many colorful stories of his Navy experiences and travels. Returning to Omaha he studied at Creighton University, then attended Creighton University Medical School graduating in 1953. He established a general medical and surgical practice at his office on 24th street in south Omaha and practiced medicine in Omaha for 40 years. From 1985 to 1987 Adam served as Chief of Staff of Bergan Mercy Hospital. When he was a sophomore in medical school, he met the love of his life, Phyllis Kuehner. They married on September 6, 1952 and had 5 children. He was a much loved husband and father. As a young man Adam was an exceptional baseball player, and he was an avid golfer who made three holes-in-one during his golfing career. His children will always remember the fun times at the family cottage at Okoboji. Adam, along with Phyllis, was a big supporter of Creighton University. Adam was devoted to his family, his Catholic faith, and the practice of medicine. He will be missed by many. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Kuehner) Zoucha; children: Anne McGee (Joseph) of Palo Alto, CA, Jill Fox (Steve) of St. Louis MO, Thomas Zoucha (Gwen) of Tyler TX, Jennifer Zoucha and Philip Zoucha, both of Omaha; seven grandchildren: Kevin Fox, Jeffrey Fox (Danielle), Adam Fox, Taylor Petersen(Andrew), Max Buerman, Katherine McGee, and Julia McGee; one great-granddaughter: Molly Fox. Preceded in death by parents, Adam and Mary (Chohon) Zoucha; four brothers Al, Robert, Frank, and Ray Zoucha; three sisters: Frances Maxwell, Rose Rohrer, and Josephine Jourdan. VISITATION begins Monday, January 25th, from 5pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, with VIGIL SERVICE to follow at 7pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Tuesday, January 26th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Catholic Church.
