GRADY, John Joseph, Jan 31, 1926 Feb 3, 2011. A lifelong Cubs fan, ardent Irishmen and longtime Omaha resident, John died surrounded by his wife of 60 years and his eight children. Formerly of Parnell, Cedar Rapids and Fontanelle, Iowa, John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the Rock Island Railroad for more than 30 years. He delivered pharmaceuticals for Kohlls Pharmacy and owned and operated the Hitching Post in Fontanelle. He was preceded in death by parents Francis and Rita (Gaffey) Grady, brother Francis Jr. Grady and grandson Jesse France. Survivors include wife Irene Pat (Rothmeyer) Grady; daughters and sons-in-law Sandy and Robert McPeak, Kristin and Gary Gilger, Pam and Ron Slavik, Becky and Leroy Ortega, Stacy and Dan Loukota,, Patty and Randy Nelson; son and daughter-in-law Creighton and Chris Grady and son Kevin Grady; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, 3pm-4:30pm at the West Center Chapel, with VIGIL SERVICE at 4pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, 10am, St. Gerald Catholic Church, 96th & Q St., Omaha. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park, Omaha, with military rites by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials are suggested to St. Gerald Catholic Church.
